The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK ! IT is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with IT seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and IT's a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so IT requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep IT operating smoothly.
We've formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and we are looking for an Employee Relations Advisor to provide expert HR Advise and work closely with managers on a wide range of ER issues.
With direction and guidance from the Senior Employee Relations Advisor, you will BE responsible for a portfolio of ER casework, coaching managers to provide legally sound advice in sickness absence management, disciplinary, grievances, performance management and capability processes.
You will serve as a key resource for both employees and management, focusing on improving employee satisfaction and retention and supporting strategic HR initiatives.
Key responsibilities :
Employee Relations Management :
- Act as a key point of contact for employee relations issues across the business.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on conflict resolution and disciplinary matters.
Policy and Legal Compliance :
- Ensure that all employee relations activities comply with current employment laws and internal policies.
- Keep abreast of changes in employment legislation and advise the HR team and the wider business on necessary updates.
Complaint and Grievance Handling :
- Manage and resolve employee complaints and grievances in line with policy and procedural timelines.
- Support the business to conduct thorough investigations and document findings and recommendations in reports, ensuring they are accurate and at a high standard
Performance and Behaviour Management :
- Assist in managing performance issues and provide guidance to managers on setting objectives and implementing performance improvement plans.
- Provide coaching to managers on handling poor performance and misconduct.
Organisational Development :
- Support the development and implementation of projects to improve employee engagement and retention across the business.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of employee relations training programmes to develop the capability of management so they are better equipped to manage employee relations issues effectively.
Employee Communication :
- Promote clear and effective communication between employees and management.
- Facilitate mediatory discussions to resolve disputes where appropriate and ensure all parties are heard.
Data Management and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to employee relations cases.
- To produce ER reports and analyse data to identify trends and recommend proactive measures to the business.
Continuous Improvement :
- To look for improvements in processes and how we support the business and to proactively make recommendations and suggestions where appropriate.
- Provide Senior ER Advisor/Head of HR with regular updates on newly emerging HR issues affecting the business.
Educational Background :
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related field.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent is desirable.
Experience :
- Proven experience in an employee relations or HR advisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practices.
Skills :
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience of building effective relationships with managers and stakeholders
- Strong influencing skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- High level of discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
